CHANGING GEARS

While teaching in my 27th year of educating students in grades 6-12, always navigating Career and Technology Education, Engineering and STEM, it occurred to me over a period of months that it was time for a new challenge. What do you do at age 64 with all this accumulated experience on every level you could imagine? As I began to reflect, I had always been engaged in hands-on, mind-on courses and activities. My four years in the marine corp right out of high school landed me in aviation as a UH-IN helicopter mechanic and crew chief. I have always worked in the industry in what we now call STEM professions, even while in college.

I have always performed in an industrial design manufacuturing environment, including plant management, totaling ten years of my work experience. CTE and Engineering - STEM continues to be the hallmark of my engagement with children of all ages. My formal education has been enhanced throughout the years by my involvement with college collaborations, industry professionals, student activity organizations, local churches, workshops, mentorships, summer programs, and, oh yes, nine grandchildren.

After concluding that Christ had equipped me over these many years to equip others, it was simply time not to withdraw but to change gears. Therefore, STEMExcellence is designed to present all things STEM from a biblical perspective knowing that:

The earth is the Lord's,

and all it contains,

The world, and those who

dwell in it. PS. 24:1

I am committed to truth, positive engagement, fun while learning, discovery, academic empowerment, encouraging others, maximizing potential, all to the glory of God.
